Director Statement
“The Visits is a film about parents and their children. About loving someone even when the walls just won’t come down. About the basic human need to understand and be understood.
It is loosely based on my own experience with mental health and the pains of communicating my innermost thoughts to the ones I love.
The experience of making this was nothing short of life changing. I could not have asked for a better cast and crew for my directorial debut.
Everyone involved brought so much passion and creativity to the material. If my 16 year old self could see this… with his his scrawny arms, moppy hair, and “Arcade Fire” T-shirt… I hope he would be proud of what he was able to accomplish.
I hope this film highlights the importance of personal storytelling in an increasingly disconnected world.
If The Visits makes just one person feel less alone in this crazy universe, it will have served its purpose.”
