Director Statement
“My intention with MILLIE IN CIS HELL is to reconstruct the film noir genre as a vessel to explore the current cultural motivations of trans exclusionary radical feminism. Why are so many cis women scared of, instead of scared for, trans women?
While exploring this, our cast shared they felt confident, and the most beautiful they ever have in their lives while dressed for their characters. For a film about the pressures of internalized misogyny that women can take out on one another, having a predominantly women & LGBT team that lifted each other with joy made for a strong set culture for which I am so grateful.
Millie, Harmony, and even Evangeline all have quite a bit in common. What we see when these three women’s worlds collide is a story of queer loneliness, and a nightmare where women are pinned against one another in a time when they need each other more than ever.”

Izzy Daniel is Millie Davis.
I wrote the character specifically for her. Following our first collaboration, ESTHER IS ME AND YOU ARE LIAR, an image of Izzy Daniel as the lone wolf detective trapped in a 1940s noir purgatory sparked into my mind, and the character wrote herself. Izzy Daniel is known for her appearance in Laura Bayonas’ FAREWELL, and I am honored to have shared many extraordinarily fulfilling collaborations with her over the years.
Destiny Greer is Harmony Hall.
Not only is Destiny a deeply intuitive actor, but she is an incredibly knowledgeable producer known for her work on the acclaimed short film #TOXICPOSITIVITY, and of upcoming feature film IN BLOOM. I met Destiny Greer years ago in Tampa, Florida where she screened her experimental short film HIM, HER, THEM. I am delighted that she agreed to come to San Francisco and lend her talents to MILLIE IN CIS HELL. I could not imagine this project without her.
Izzy Burns is Evangeline Elms.
The first time I met Izzy Burns, Izzy Daniel and I were assisting Abraham Montes (our Director of Photography) with a separate project of his own. We encountered Izzy Burns dawning her “CYBERDYKE” costume in the Castro District of San Francisco. She’s since collaborated with me on multiple projects, notably CYBERDYKE. You can also find Izzy Burns drumming & songwriting for the all girls garage rock band from Mars: PERSEPHONE. I am quite grateful we have connected.
Liz Davis, of ARSON ON THE SET PRODUCTIONS, is our magnificent co-producer...
You may also recongize her as BUBBLEGUM BITCH.
Liz is an empowering independent filmmaker, known for
SHARK TEETH, and is the producer of upcoming projects PEPPERMINT PIXIE DREAM GIRL and IN BLOOM. She has contributed more to MILLIE IN CIS HELL and to STONEHAVEN FILMS than I could possibly write here.
